Dymon Co., Ltd. Completes Final Integration of Lunar Rover YAOKI

Countdown Begins for February 2025 Launch
Dymon Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shintomi 1-6-16 DCC Building, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Shinichiro Nakajima) proudly announces the successful final integration of the lunar rover YAOKI, conducted at Intuitive Machines’ facility in Houston, Texas, USA.

Launch of Intuitive Machines’ IM-2 Mission is targeted for no earlier than late February. The YAOKI rover will travel aboard Intuitive Machines’ Nova-C lunar lander Athena during the company’s second mission. The lander is scheduled to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The planned landing site is near the lunar South Pole.

Final integration
Mission Overview: Project YAOKI 1 (PY-1)
YAOKI is designed to be one of the world’s smallest and lightest lunar rovers, combining exceptional durability with high mobility. After landing, YAOKI will capture detailed close-up images of the lunar surface and transmit the data back to Earth using Intuitive Machines’ data transmission services. These images aim to enhance our understanding of the lunar environment and serve as a foundation for future exploration missions. The mission will also demonstrate advanced technologies developed in collaboration with Project YAOKI’s technical partners.

Notably, screws used in YAOKI’s wheel were made by elementary school students from Ota Ward, Tokyo, in partnership with Katsuragawa Seira Co., Ltd. This initiative was part of an effort to inspire the next generation with the possibilities of space exploration.
Successful integration marks a significant milestone, reflecting the collective efforts of all Project YAOKI partners and paving the way for new opportunities in lunar exploration.
